Could you route through rubbish in the middle of the night…?
Looking for things to recycle…?
To scrape a living together…?
In freezing temperatures…?
With your two children in tow…?
This is the reality in La Paz, Bolivia for many mothers who can’t find work but still have to keep a roof over their families’ heads.
Blankets 4 Bolivia has helped improve the working environment for many women working in such hazardous environments. Blankets 4 Bolivia manufactures and distributes thermal blankets made from recycled crisp packets, which would otherwise be thrown into a landfill. Every year, hundreds of mothers and their children contract Hypothermia through working in the freezing temperatures at such high altitudes. Blankets are provided for many women to ensure they get home safely to look after their children.
The aim of the project is for many disadvantaged women to become self-sufficient in the face of environmental and economic challenges, by utilising local resources and skills for a general recycling scheme, which would provide a more substantial and consistent source of income to the community.
Please donate to the project, as every £2 you donate will provide 1 blanket for a Bolivian family. This will go a long way to help provide for their health and their long term futures.
