Global Entrepreneurship Week One of our very own Sheffield SIFE project teams took part in today’s University of Sheffield Enterprise International Crafts Fair which was awarded a high impact event by GEW UK as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

With over 40,000 events being held in 115 different countries and around 10 million people taking part, Global Entrepreneurship Week is, quite simply, a massive event which enables all of us to take part in a wide range of entrepreneurial activities. Many government officials as well as the biggest entrepreneurs have put their weight behind the week with David Cameron calling it “the biggest celebration of enterprise in the UK.”

Last year, Global entrepreneurship week ran 37,000 events with over 200,000 in attendance being run with 983 different organisations. 35% of participants last year said they were much more encouraged and enthusiastic after attending a GEW event, while figures show that those who did attend a GEW event are significantly more likely to believe they have the skills required to start their own businesses. However, with more events and more organisations taking part, this year GEW is expected to be bigger than ever.

Global Entrepreneurship Week aims to turn the ideas of today into the businesses of tomorrow, by setting up a variety of events throughout the UK (some in our area) which anyone can attend to develop skills, get advice or just get some more information. Take a look at some of the events that are being held in your area to see if any appeal to you. Some are full but there are spaces available at other events which happen after this week.

Hope you all have a great Global Entrepreneurship week!!
