This is an environmentally sustainable programme to target deforestation in the Malealea community in Lesotho. The aim was to educate communities and implement short and long term techniques to reduce consumption of wood and preserve their natural resources.

Mini plantations in schools have been set up to educate people in sustainable forestry methods and the promotion of smokeless stoves to reduce wood consumption and improve health.

We have also invested in a full scale peach tree plantation for one of the local villagers, Isaac, and bought seeds for two other people who have established foundations. These plantations bind the soil thus reducing erosion and provide an income for the plantation manager and gives them the opportunity to acquire business knowledge and skills. As a result, the first batch of saplings from Isaac’s plantation has been sold to the local forestry commission.

Please donate to the project, as every £2 you donate will go towards planting one Cheche tree in Lesotho and helping the local community by providing fuel for cooking and heating in the winter months.
